In December of 2025, NJ TRANSIT announced it would increase the benefit of the Vanpool Sponsorship Program (VSP) from $175 per month to $400 per month to qualified vanpool groups effective January 2026. Vanpooling is a cost effective way to get to work, and share your commute.
What is a vanpool and how can it help me?
- Vanpooling reduces stress associated with commuting.
- A vanpool is comprised of 4-15 people who commute to work by van or SUV.
- SUVs and vans must be leased through a third-party approved vendor like Enterprise.
- Vehicle insurance and maintenance are included in the cost of the vanpool lease.
- The lease on the van is month to month basis, with only a 30-day commitment.
- The cost of your trip is shared with your vanpool group, reducing the cost for all riders.
- KMM offers a $125 empty seat subsidy to qualified vanpoools just starting up.
