Active Transportation Options for Individuals on the Autism Spectrum – All Abilities Bike Pilot Program

This presentation examines biking as an inclusive active transportation option for youth on the autism spectrum. Keep Middlesex Moving partnered with the Strider Education Foundation and East Brunswick Recreation’s camps to run the FIRST EVER, All Abilities Bike Pilot Camp. Eight students aged 8–16 attended ten one-hour sessions, built and learned to ride bikes, kept them, and experienced positive, flexible, and impactful outcomes overall. The program promotes transportation independence for all in the built environment.
